A 27-year-old Chinese national, Wu Jinxing, was arrested on July 29, 2024, in Singapore for possession of stolen luxury goods and cash worth S$183,835.46. He is suspected to be part of an international syndicate involved in housebreaking. Wu was apprehended in a forested area near Holland Road and Bukit Sedap Road, where the police later discovered additional stolen items at a hotel on Geylang Road.
The recovered items include:
- An Hermès Birkin handbag valued at S$75,000
- Various currencies totaling over S$90,000
- A Hublot watch (value unknown)
- A Jaeger-LeCoultre watch valued at S$30,000
- An Omega Cousa watch (value unknown)
The police took Wu back to the crime scene on 2 August 2024, where he was seen with media and escorted by officers to multiple drop-off locations in the forest. Wu is believed to be a "runner" for the syndicate, and investigations are ongoing with the possibility of other suspects involved.
